Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has launched its new free summer activity programme.

The programme will offer children and young people from across Fermanagh and Omagh, the opportunity to get active and learn new skills at various locations across the district.

The weekly coaching programmes will focus on fundamentals of movement and skills required for all sports. Sessions will be delivered in accordance with Government guidelines regarding Covid-19 at that time. Programme places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and there is no charge.

Speaking at the launch of the programme, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong, said;

“The Council is committed to creating opportunities for children and young people to embrace a healthier lifestyle and this is particularly important in light of the challenges we’ve all faced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Despite the easing of some Covid-19 restrictions recently, unfortunately, this year’s summer activities programme is slightly different than usual.

I am delighted however, that an innovative multi skills programme has been developed that will offer children and young people from across Fermanagh and Omagh an outlet to get active and learn new skills. I would like to commend the staff of the Leisure, Recreation and Sport service on devising such an excellent programme and I would encourage as many young people as possible to sign up to take part.”
