Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted to announce details of “Christmas from Strule”, its first ever online programme live from Strule Arts Centre.

The programme will run until Christmas and will feature a host of live performances, workshops and storytelling.

Speaking about “Christmas from Strule”, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth said,

“These are challenging times and with performance spaces closed to live audiences, this innovative new programme with performances from the Strule Arts Centre not only allows performers to get back to what they love doing but also gives the audience the opportunity to enjoy top class entertainment from the comfort of their own homes.

“Our district has long been renowned for its talent and I am delighted that over the next few weeks, through the “Christmas from Strule” programme, we will all be able to enjoy for ourselves, the extent of that talent.

“I would like to thank the team at Strule Arts Centre, for devising such a wonderful and varied programme for our enjoyment.”

‘Christmas from Strule’ will commence this Saturday, 21 November, at 8.00 pm with the first in a series of Saturday night Live & Local @ 8pm featuring the Bob Quick Quintet, jazz at its best, accompanied by the stunning voice of vocalist, Gerarda McCann.

Live and Local will run every weekend with a marvellous mixture of musical genres including jazz, blues, country, traditional, rock, all to be enjoyed from the comfort of your living room. Strule Arts Centre is a wonderful purpose-built venue and the staff are delighted to be able to be able to live stream the performances from Strule Arts Centre direct to you were ever you are.

The programme of local bands and artists include Kick the Bucket Blues Band, Cool Hand String Band, Sinead Taggart, Larry Lowe, The Whistling Donkey’s and more.

Christmas at Strule, however, is much more that just the Saturday night programme. It would not be Christmas in Omagh without Tom Sweeney’s Christmas Special!  We are delighted to announce that Tom will be performing a virtual Christmas Special for you all to enjoy with your family from the comfort of your own home.  We also have REAL Princess NI including the Snow Sisters who will sing a selection of your festive favourites and more.

Strule Arts Centre will also be posting weekly sketches by the accomplished local artist Pauline Harte for you to enjoy and have a go from your own home.  Whether you are a novice artist or more experienced you will certainly enjoy watching this fabulous artist at work.

There is nothing like a little story to help wind the family down before bedtime, especially as we approach Christmas and the excitement is mounting.  We can enjoy beautifully read weekly Christmas Stories with Seàna, no doubt the Children will want to watch over and over again.

Local ceramic artist Chris @ Creative Pottery will host a ‘Play with Clay’ workshop for those who wish to get their hands dirty and create something special.
