Council Launches Coach Education Programme

23rd August 2019

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has developed a series of courses and workshops aimed at promoting excellence in local sports as part of its innovative Coach Education Programme for 2019 – 2020. The programme commences on Thursday 10 October 2019 with a Safeguarding Children and Young People course at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen.

The Coach Education Programme, which also includes First Aid Training for Sport and Club Coach Sessions which have been organised in partnership with Sport Northern Ireland (Sport NI), provides local sports clubs, coaches and volunteers opportunities to further develop their knowledge and understanding across a range of topics and disciplines.

Speaking at the launch of the Coach Education Programme, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Siobhán Currie, said;

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted to offer such a diverse range of courses and workshops which have been part funded to enable local sports clubs and members to develop their knowledge and skills in disciplines specific to their sport and to sport in general. The Coach Education Programme provides an excellent opportunity for all those involved in sport to avail of high-quality sports training and coaching at a reduced cost and I would urge clubs and organisations to encourage their coaches to make the most of this innovative programme.”

The Council is also delighted to be working, once again, in partnership with Sport NI to deliver Club Coach Sessions, consisting of three separate workshops, which will be facilitated by expert tutors from their respective fields including skill acquisition, sports nutrition and performance analysis.
