Do you want to learn more about recycling in a fun and informative way and at the same time have the opportunity to win a prize?

This Halloween, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is inviting our younger residents to rethink waste and get creative by producing a piece of craftwork or a mask or design a Halloween costume using everyday recyclable materials.

Speaking about the competition, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth, said; “.

“A competition to produce artwork from recycling material, organised by the Council in the early summer proved that the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area is awash with young artistic talent and I would encourage the children to get creative once again for the Halloween competition while reusing and recycling materials to help the environment.

“So I would encourage you to check out what you have at home and create your own costumes, masks and decorations. Old clothes, scrap fabric, cardboard boxes, or anything else that can be recycled can be reused to customise your unique designs.

The competition will have two categories:

1.Best Recycled Halloween craft or mask

2.Best recycled Halloween costume

The competition is open to children across the Fermanagh & Omagh district. Entries will be split into 3 age categories: under 5 year old, 5-8 year old & 9-12 year old.

To take part in the competition, all you have to do is create a piece from everyday recyclable materials which you would find in your home and ask your parent or guardian to submit a photograph of your artwork together with a signed application form to the Council by email to halloween@fermanaghomagh.com.

The closing date for entries is Tuesday 3rd November 2020 and only entries with completed and signed application forms will be accepted.
