Fermanagh and Omagh District Council currently has two programmes ongoing for the summer celebrating the diverse nature of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area.

Organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Good Relations, the “From Around the World” summer dance programme and the “Celebrating Our Cultures” summer arts programme are online celebrations of the multi-culturalism of the district.

The Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Chris Smyth said “with the restrictions placed on events as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to devise new and innovative ways of delivering programmes. These two programmes, which are online based, are a great way of finding out about new dances and skills while at the same time celebrating the cultures of all the residents of the district.”

“From Around the World” summer dance programme provides participants with the opportunity to experience a wide variety of ethnic dances from countries in Europe and Asia through video dance lessons recorded by trained and experienced dance tutors.

“Celebrating Our Cultures” is a summer arts programme which enables participants to learn everything from making an Irish Traveller Wagon to learning African Drumming. This programme is delivered through live on-line workshops via Webex.

Both programmes complement the “From Around the World; Celebrating our Cultures” exhibition which is currently on display at Enniskillen Castle Museums.

To register for any of the workshops, please email your name, age and number of participants to goodrelations@fermanaghomagh.com. Only registered participants will be invited to participate in the live on-line workshops over Webex. For further information on the programme please visit www.fermanaghomagh.com.
