ASPIRE, the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council led employability initiative, provides assistance to individuals across the district who are unemployed, working part-time or perhaps working reduced hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic through a suite of employability support programmes.

As we look to the new year, ASPIRE is offering a range of free learning and training opportunities ranging from quick response support with job searches, CV development, advice on completing job application forms and interview preparation to longer term development including work experience placements, qualifications and skills training.

Speaking about the ASPIRE Programme, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Diana Armstrong said:

‘Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to working in partnership to develop and promote initiatives which benefit the people of the district. The ASPIRE Employability Programme is a wonderful example of the benefits to be accrued by such an approach.

The new year is a great time to evaluate where you are and make a change and to focus on personal and professional development. ASPIRE can help you to make that change and the large number of people which it has helped, through individually tailored training and support, is testament to the quality of the training.

I would urge anyone who is seeking further qualifications or assistance generally to get back into the workplace to contact ASPIRE now to find out how they can benefit you.”

The ASPIRE programme is part funded by the European Social Fund 2014-2020 and the Department for the Economy and is a Council led partnership with the Western Health and Social Care Trust, the Education Authority for the Western Region and its delivery partner, Fermanagh Rural Community Initiative (FRCI).

Due to the current restrictions put in place by the Northern Ireland Executive to curb the spread of Covid-19, support and training will be provided online and will be reviewed in line with government advice when this current period of restrictions has elapsed.
