Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, as part of Sport Northern Ireland’s National Lottery-funded Every Body Active 2020 programme has organised a free archery programme for adults to start in the New Year.

The free programme, which will be facilitated by a fully qualified coach, will start on Monday 21 January 2019 from 7.30pm – 8.30pm at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen, and will run until Monday 25 March 2019.

Speaking about the forthcoming programme, the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Howard Thornton, said;

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is, once again, delighted to be working in partnership with Sport NI to deliver this programme. Leading an active lifestyle is vital for physical and mental health and wellbeing and is one of the central themes of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Community Plan 2030. It is important that we find time in our increasingly busy lives to factor in the opportunity to exercise and I would ask prospective participants to encourage a friend, neighbour or family member to sign up to this opportunity to try archery.”

Sport Northern Ireland Chair, George Lucas, commented;

“Sport NI is delighted to be investing over £6m of National Lottery funding in the 11 District Councils across Northern Ireland. By working on the delivery of Every Body Active 2020 we will begin to see real changes in sport and physical activity participation – especially amongst women and girls, people with a disability and those in areas of greatest social need.

We look forward to seeing the impact of our investment for people in our communities, helping them to enjoy, engage and excel in sport and leading to a population which is more active more often”.
