Fermanagh and Omagh District Council this week launched the programme of events for Enterprise Month which will take place from Monday 2 March to Thursday 26 March and is inviting businesses and entrepreneurs in the district to sign up!

This month long programme includes business workshops, seminars, training events, drop in events, trade fairs and celebration events all designed to help businesses grow in an increasingly challenging environment.

Speaking at the launch of the Enterprise Week programme, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Siobhán Currie said:

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to actively supporting local businesses. The district is home to 8,200 businesses and they contribute significantly to the economy both locally and regionally.  Initiatives like Enterprise Month demonstrates the Council’s commitment to driving and strengthening business growth to help local businesses flourish.

I have no doubt that the events programme to take place during Enterprise Month, in tandem with the existing suite of free Business Support programmes which the Council already offers, will help address many of the challenges our SMEs face on a daily basis. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and expansion of our local businesses over the coming years.”

Enterprise Month marks a departure from the traditional week long event as the increased timeframe is geared towards enabling business owners and entrepreneurs to attend more events and to benefit from the opportunity to network and explore opportunities that will support the future development of their businesses.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to working in partnership with others to ensure that the district is a great place to live, work and visit. Enterprise month will see the Council working with key stakeholders including Omagh Enterprise Company, Fermanagh Enterprise Ltd, Labour Relations Agency, South West College, NOW Group, Social Enterprise NI, Digital Twenty-Four and Global Education Ltd, to help businesses develop and grow. The events will also showcase the Council’s own free business support programmes – Go for It, Kick Start, Advancing Business Growth, Tender for Success and the Digital Support Programme – part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Investment for Growth and Jobs Northern Ireland 2024-2020 Programme.

30 events will be delivered throughout the month of March 2020.

Some of the highlights during the month include a half day seminar being delivered in the Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen celebrating Women in Business – delivered by experienced trainer, author and executive coach Claire Chidley.  This event aims to promote conversations and engagements between females in the district and promises to be an afternoon of learning and networking for like-minded professional women.

There are also workshops focusing on improving your sales pitch and selling skills, growing your business through digital formats and accredited training opportunities.
