1 FT SQ Exhibition for 2019 to open at the Strule Arts Centre

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s 12th annual 1 FT SQ exhibition will open at the Gallery, Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on Thursday 5 December 2019 at 7 pm.

The exhibition, which will be officially opened by the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Siobhán Currie, will showcase a diverse collection of artworks, all measuring one foot square in size. Speaking about the exhibition, Councillor Currie said;

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted with the response to the open call to the arts community which was issued in October. The Council is proud to host this very diverse selection of artworks submitted by new, established, amateur, emerging and professional art from all over Ireland.

The ‘1FT SQ’ exhibition is an event that has continued to evolve and regularly attracts interest from creative practitioners of all genres and creative backgrounds from across Ireland and indeed further afield.”

This year’s exhibition includes an eclectic selection of works in watercolour, acrylics, oil, pencil, mixed media, wax, print, textiles, photography, ceramics, porcelain and clay.

As part of this year’s exhibition, Ciara Hambly of Hambly & Hambly Gallery, Enniskillen and Paul McKenna of the McKenna Gallery in Omagh will adjudicate the entries and select three prizewinners. First prize is a solo exhibition at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, second prize is a two week residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig and third prize is £150 towards art materials.

1 FT SQ continues at Strule Arts Centre until Saturday 4 January 2020. The Strule Arts Centre is open Monday – Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and admission to the exhibition is free.

The exhibition will transfer to the headquarters of Waterways Ireland, Sligo Road, Enniskillen, opening on Thursday 9 January 2019.
