A programme of Irish language classes, activities and events will take place across the district from September 2017 to June 2018.

The programme of events, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, includes Irish language classes catering for all levels of learners; sean-nós and set dancing classes dancing; talks and discussions; music sessions; concerts and festivals; singing in Irish workshops, plus lots more.

Singing in Irish

The singing in Irish group will meet from 7 pm to 8 pm on Wednesdays. The group is free to attend and is open to everyone, with new members especially welcome.  The singing in Irish group has proven to be an effective and enjoyable way of learning Irish.

Sean Nós Dancing

The popular sean-nós and set dancing class in Strule Arts Centre will also run for 12 weeks, from 6 pm to 7 pm.  This class is open to all levels of dancers and is a fun way to keep fit as well as being a very sociable activity. The 12-week dancing class costs £20 per person.

John Beag O’Flatharta, “an tAncaire” is from Foirnis, Leitir Meallain on Connemara’s island coast.  He has taken the Irish speaking world by storm with his catchy rhythms and memorable songs from a local tradition yet sung to airs more akin to American mid-west style.
