Classroom Support

“I was made redundant and that was a big life change for me, not knowing what to do. I had seen a leaflet that had been given out to the schools, about becoming a classroom assistant from the ASPIRE programme, and I thought ‘You know what? That’s what I’ll do’. I would recommend the ASPIRE Programme to anyone. If you’re in doubt just call in and see them!”

Patricia McGoldrick, Participant – Classroom Support Placement, Holy Family Primary School

“We’ve been very fortunate, we’ve had excellent participants come through to our school and we can understand coming from a different work background or home environment that they’re coming with a certain amount of nervousness and lack of confidence, but it’s been wonderful to see how they flourish and develop within our school. We’ve gained so much and so has the participant, so the partnership has been excellent.”

Maura Dolan, Principal Holy Family Primary School

“Last year I graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering, I was looking for a job but all job descriptions were looking for experience which I didn’t have. Michael Roddy (Above)

“As an employer, the ASPIRE Programme has provided us with somebody to meet our needs and the person has fitted very well into those, indeed he has went on to secure employment with us on the strength of his performances within our organisation.”

Michael Roddy, Manager, Omagh Independent Advice Services

Western Health & Social Care Trust

“The ASPIRE Programme has helped me to meet new people and grow within myself. The highlight of the programme for me has been getting involved in the Health and Wellbeing as a social event. I started placement in the South West Acute Hospital, the highlight of my placement has been assisting with ECGs (Electrocardiogram exams) under the supervision of the nurses, and being able to be more hands on than I expected to be. I would recommend the programme to anybody.”

Laura Quinn, Placement, South West Acute Hospital

“The Western Trust has worked with the local council for over 20 years, in providing work placements and training opportunities for the unemployed.  Opportunities through ASPIRE enables participants to access health care work experience placements that will give them the necessary experience to move into  employment; and with that comes many benefits to individuals of Omagh and Fermanagh”

Louise Potts, CAWT HR/Vocational Training Team, Western Health and Social Care Trust

Additional Support

Mark McQuaid (Above)

Mark McQuaid (Above)

“One of the main barriers to gaining employment and getting back into the work force is the financial barrier, what I do is come in every four weeks to the ASPIRE programme to provide a bit of financial advice; it’s all about giving people the chance to make better financial decisions and better life decisions effectively.”

Mark McQuaid, Money Adviser, the Money Advice Service
