Strule Arts Centre to host Irish language Christmas concert

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s annual Irish language Christmas Concert – Ceolchoirm na Nollag – will take place at the Strule Arts Centre on Thursday 8
December at 8 pm.

The varied concert programme will include performances in English and Irish by a number of local and visiting artists and groups.

Building on the success of her well received debut album, acclaimed Irish musician, Bernadette Morris, who is originally from Tyrone but now lives in Belfast, will perform a number of pieces as part of the concert programme.

There will also be a number of local acts performing on the night including pupils from Gaelscoil na gCrann who will sing songs and play music, and local group Ceoltóirí na hÓmaí and the well-known Together One Voice choir who will sing from their own repertoire of songs as well as coming together to sing one song. Dromore’s well-established choir, Harmonise, will also sing and perform some traditional music and Irish dancing and The Omagh Ukulele Orchestra, a new initiative for the area, will perform a repertoire of modern and festive songs.

Páistí Ghaelscoil na gCrann a chuireas tús le himeachtaí lena rogha amhráin agus píosaí ceoil. Beidh Ceoltóirí na hÓmaí ag teacht le chéile le grúpa Valerie Whitworth, Together One Voice, le amhrán de chuid Kila a cheol chomh maith le amhráin dá gcuid féin a chur i láthair.

Cór fad bunaithe anois is ea Harmonise ón Droim Mór a cheolas idir amhráin is iomainn le blás na Nollag ar chuid acu. Cloisfear píosa ceoil traidisiúnta uathu fosta a mbeidh damhsóirí ag déanamh steip leis. Seinnteoirí ukulele a cheolann amhráin lena gcuid ceoil féin is é atá in Omagh Ukulele Orchestra, tógra ceoil atá curtha le céile le déanaí ag fear áitiúil Briain Mac Eachmharcaigh.

Is í Bernadette Morris aoi speisialta Cheolchoirm na Nollag i mbliana. As Tír Eoghain ó dhúchas do Bernadette ach tá sí anois lonnaithe i mBéal Feirste. Tá guth binn ag Bernadette lena ceolann sí rogha saibhir d’amhráin traidisiúnta agus eile i mBéarla agus i nGaeilge.

We are currently working on the basis that Council services will resume as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 17 October 2017) however we will be keeping this under review.
