Registration opens for Hallowe’en football camps

Published: 8th October 2015

Registration is now open for Hallowe’en holiday football camps at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen and Omagh Leisure Complex.

The Nutty Krust Hallowe’en football camps, which are suitable for children aged between 5 and 13 years old, are delivered locally by the Irish FA in partnership with Portadown-based Irwin’s Bakery and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council.

The popular two-day camps, which will take place at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum and Omagh Leisure Complex on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October 2015 from 10 am to 1 pm, give boys and girls the opportunity to develop their football skills while exercising, having fun and making new friends.

Irish FA coaches will give children tips on dribbling, passing and shooting, as well as encouragement to continue into a more competitive playing environment.

Helping to launch the Nutty Krust Hallowe’en Holiday Camps, Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly, said:

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with the Irish FA, is committed to furthering the development of soccer at grassroots across the district. The Hallowe’en football camps are just one way in which we do this.”

The Nutty Krust Hallowe’en Holiday Camps are coordinated by Stephen Erskine, Irish FA Grassroots Development Officer and staffed by qualified soccer coaches in the Fermanagh and Omagh district.

“The Irish FA Hallowe’en holiday camps provide boys and girls with an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and develop as players,” said Stephen.

“The programme is a vital component in the Irish FA’s grassroots strategy. By introducing children to the game at an early age and providing them with a fun and positive experience, it is hoped this will in turn generate an interest which will keep then involved in football for life,” he added.

Colette Wilson, marketing manager for programme sponsors Irwin’s Bakery, said:

“It’s great to see the holiday camps initiative going from strength to strength.

“We’ve been supporting the Irish FA’s grassroots football development programme for more than nine years now and 2015 has been the biggest year yet.”

All participants will receive a Nutty Krust goodie bag.
