Pre application consultation on Thursday 15 September in relation to proposed road widening in Omagh

Pre application consultation on Thursday 15 September 2016, 10am – 9pm, at the Silverbirch Hotel, 5 Gortin Road, Omagh, BT79 7DH in relation to:

Proposed road widening at Mountjoy Road and Gortin Road, Omagh (from the junction of Mountjoy Road/Old Mountfield Road and Lisanelly Avenue to the junction of Gortin Road and Strathroy Road) and works to the junction of Strathroy Road and Gortin Road, Omagh.

The Department of Education (NI) is currently in the process of developing plans for ‘road widening at Mountjoy Road and Gortin Road, Omagh (from the junction of Mountjoy Road/Old Mountfield Road and Lisanelly Avenue to the junction of Gortin Road and Strathroy Road) and works to the junction of Strathroy Road and Gortin Road, Omagh’.

The purpose of the works in question are to assist in improved traffic movement and flows in this part of Omagh Town and in doing so assist in the delivery of the Strule Shared Education Campus for which planning permission was granted under K/ 2011/0736/0 on 30 July 2013.

As part of this process, the Department of Education (NI) wish to formally invite members of the public and any interested parties to attend a ‘Public Exhibition Event’ of the proposals on Thursday 15 September 2016 between 10am – 9pm at The Silverbirch Hotel, 5 Gortin Road, Omagh BT79 7DH.

The Public Exhibition Event will provide the opportunity to view and discuss plans with members of the design team who will be on hand to talk through the proposals, along with providing an opportunity for comments to be made on the proposals.

In addition, ‘Information Exhibits’ for the proposals will also be maintained in order to facilitate those who cannot attend the Public Exhibition Event on 15 September 2016.

These will be in place from 16 September 2016 to the 30  September 2016 inclusive at. The following venues:

  • Omagh Library, 1 Spillars Place, Omagh, BT78 IHL
  • Omagh Community House Ltd, Drumragh Avenue, Omagh, BT78 IDP

These Information Exhibits will also provide a comment box facility for members of the public to make comments on the proposals for the design team’s consideration.

The information from the Public Consultation Event and Information Exhibits will also be available on the Strule website (www.strule.org) along with the ability to provide comment to: feedback@strule.org between 16 and 30 September 2016.

Comments and feedback on the proposals should be returned either in writing, email or by discussions with members of WYG Planning by 14 October 2016.

Please note that any comments made in respect of the proposals at this stage are not representations to the local planning authority. If a planning application is subsequently submitted to Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, public advertisement and neighbour notification will be undertaken at that juncture and members of the public will have the opportunity to make a formal representation to the proposal and planning application at that time.

Due to the amber weather warning, all Council offices and facilities are closed for the remainder of today, Monday 16 October 2017. We are currently working on the basis that Council services will resume as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 17 October 2017) however we will be keeping this under review. This position may change depending on weather conditions.
