New employability opportunities with ASPIRE programme

ASPIRE employability programme open day

Published: 5th September 2016

A programme that supports people into employment has launched a number of new learning and training opportunities for September.

ASPIRE, a Fermanagh and Omagh District Council led employability initiative, provides assistance to anyone aged 16 years old and over who is currently unemployed and is seeking paid work.

The ASPIRE programme is currently offering a range of free learning and training opportunities in fields such as classroom support; care and support work, retail and business administration and a health and wellbeing programme. Other supports available include help with developing a CV, interview skills and job searches.

Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Cllr Mary Garrity, who recently attended one of the ASPIRE open days in the district, said the Council was committed to improving the quality of life of residents and praised the work of ASPIRE.

“September is always a good time to focus on learning and personal and professional development and to start something new,” said Cllr Garrity.

“With its range of experienced staff, the ASPIRE programme creates a tailor made package specific to each person’s personal circumstances to develop knowledge, skills and experience in the workplace. I encourage anyone who is out of work and keen to enter or return to the workplace to contact the ASPIRE programme to discuss the opportunities available.”

The ASPIRE programme is led by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and part funded by the European Social Fund and the Department for the Economy. ASPIRE works in partnership with the Western Health and Social Care Trust, the Education Authority for the Western Region and its delivery partner, Fermanagh Rural Community Initiative (FRCI).
