Gaidhlig language class in Strule Arts Centre

Published: 23rd January 2017

A free four week introductory course to the Gaidhlig language, a minority language still spoken on Scotland’s Western Isles, will start at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on Thursday 26 January 2017 at 8 pm.

The course, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, is open to everyone and is free to attend. The weekly classes will last for 90 minutes.

The introductory course takes place in advance of a group of Gaidhlig speakers and learners from Inverness in Scotland visiting the Omagh area from the 16 to 19 February 2017. The group will attend events in An Creagán Visitor Centre and the Strule Arts Centre including a one day Ulster Scots and Irish Language Festival in the Strule Arts Centre on Saturday 18 February 2017.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Irish language events in the Strule Arts Centre continue to take place on Wednesday evenings with the Sean-nós and Set dancing class running from 6 pm to 7 pm, singing in Irish from 7 pm to 8 pm and Irish language classes for beginners, improvers and advanced level from 8 pm to 9.30 pm. These events are open to everyone and can be joined at any time.
