On The Front and Here At Home 1917-18

A conference examining the key historical events of 1917 both on the battlefields of Europe and back home in Ireland is taking place in Omagh Library, 1 Spillars Place , Omagh on Wednesday 20 September 2017 commencing with registration at 9.30 am and finishing at 12.30 pm.

The event features a panel of eminent guest speakers including Dr Marie Coleman, Senior Lecturer at the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics, Queen’s University Belfast, author and war historian, Philip Orr and Seamus Farrell, The Junction, Derry/Londonderry. As part of the event, there will be an exhibition of World War 1 memorabilia, curated by Ashley Forbes and music from world renowned fiddle player, Tracey McRory.

Due to the amber weather warning, all Council offices and facilities are closed for the remainder of today, Monday 16 October 2017. We are currently working on the basis that Council services will resume as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 17 October 2017) however we will be keeping this under review. This position may change depending on weather conditions.
