Free ‘Come and Try It’ Boccia at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised a free Boccia ‘Come and Try It’ session on Saturday 4 February 2017 at the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen from 11.30 am as part of its ongoing inclusive activity programme.

The activity session, which is suitable for young people aged under 18, will last for one hour and will be delivered by fully qualified instructors.   Participants are encouraged to come along and attend the session which is taking place at Round 5 of the Northern Ireland Boccia League event which is facilitated by Disability Sport NI.

Speaking about the free Boccia ‘Come and Try It’ session, Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Mary Garrity, said;   “Keeping fit and active is key to physical health and social well–being. The Boccia session will enable people to try a new activity. They will also have the opportunity to watch some of the best players from across Northern Ireland in action at the League event”.

Speaking about the forthcoming League round and the ‘Come and Try It’ activity session, Odhran Doherty from Disability Sport NI, said;

‘Disability Sport NI are really looking forward to hosting Round 5 of the Northern Ireland Boccia League in the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum on Saturday 4 February 2017. The quality of play this season has been really high and a number of our newer players have really developed in the competitive environment. We are delighted to work with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to host the taster session and we hope that people will come along and link in with the Fermanagh Lakers Boccia Club and enjoy some of the competitive Boccia games during the day’.

Due to the amber weather warning, all Council offices and facilities are closed for the remainder of today, Monday 16 October 2017. We are currently working on the basis that Council services will resume as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 17 October 2017) however we will be keeping this under review. This position may change depending on weather conditions.
