Forthill Park, Enniskillen will play host to an afternoon of free family fun and entertainment on Easter Monday, 17 April 2017 from 2 pm – 4 pm.

The ‘Picnic in the Park’ event, which is organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, will include activities such as an Easter egg trail; real Easter chicks and rare breed hens. There will also be face painting; balloon modelling and music.

Admission to the event and all the associated activities is free.

“Picnic in the Park” aims to create a sense of belonging across the Council area, enabling people to meet their neighbours and take part in activities aimed at creating a sense of place. It is also aimed at ensuring that all council owned public spaces feel shared and open to all.

Encouraging families to make their way to “Picnic in the Park” on Easter Monday, the Chairperson of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Mary Garrity, said:“Forthill Park is a beautiful and historic setting for our Easter “Picnic in the Park” event. It is a great opportunity for families to get out and about and enjoy this wonderful and historic space in the heart of Enniskillen.”

As well as the programme of family entertainment, people will also have the opportunity to climb the 108 steps to the viewing platform of Cole’s Monument, which was built in the centre of the park in memory of the late General the Hon. Sir G. Lowry Cole from 1845-57.
