Council launches programme of Irish language events and activities

A programme of Irish language classes, activities and events that will take place across the district for the coming year was launched at a public event at the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on Wednesday 7 September 2016.

The programme of events, organised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, includes Irish language classes catering for all levels of learners; sean-nós and set dancing classes dancing; talks and discussions; music sessions; concerts and festivals; singing in Irish workshops, plus lots more.

The events and activities programme runs from now until next spring.

The launch night also included a programme of traditional music performed by Omagh’s McAnenly family and a talk from the newly appointed Irish Language Office for Glór an Tearmainn  and Pobal Ar A’n Iúl, Michaeline Donnelly.

Due to the amber weather warning, all Council offices and facilities are closed for the remainder of today, Monday 16 October 2017. We are currently working on the basis that Council services will resume as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 17 October 2017) however we will be keeping this under review. This position may change depending on weather conditions.
