Council information events for people with disabilities

Published: 22nd February 2016

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has organised information events for people with a disability in relation to Council services.

The events, entitled ‘Your Council, Your Way, Your Say’, will take place in the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh and the Townhall, Enniskillen, on Tuesday 1 and Thursday 3 March 2016 respectively.  Both events start at 4.30 pm.

As well as providing information on the Council, its services and additional services available for people with a disability, those in attendance will have the opportunity to share their experience of interacting with the Council. ISL and BSL interpreters will also sign at both events.

Councillor Debbie Coyle, the Council’s Diversity Champion, will facilitate the ‘sharing experience’ section of the event, where attendees will be encouraged to suggest how the Council could improve access to its services for people with a disability.

Speaking ahead of the events, Vice-Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Paul Robinson, said:

‘These type of events are vital to the local community. They act as a two-way means of communication allowing people to find out about the Council and its services, as well as giving people the opportunity to outline any improvements they feel should be made.  I encourage people with a disability to attend an event and share their ideas and experiences.”
