Council buildings to turn purple and blue in support of global causes

Council buildings will be lit purple and blue for World Pancreatic Cancer Day and World Diabetes Day on 13 & 14 November respectively

Published: 9th November 2015

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is illuminating two of its properties in coloured lighting on November 13 and 14 to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer and diabetes, respectively.

On Friday 13 November 2015, Enniskillen Castle and the Tree Lines sculpture at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, will be lit purple, the official colour for World Pancreatic Cancer Day, to raise awareness of the condition. The purple light up campaign is organised locally by Action4Noel, a regional fund hosted by the charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK.

The two properties will then be illuminated blue on Saturday 14 November 2015 – World Diabetes Day – to increase awareness of diabetes. Blue is the official colour for the global event which is organised locally by Fermanagh Diabetes Support Group.

The lighting up of Council buildings to mark specific days of significance is just one way in which the Council may provide support to a particular charity. Enquiries regarding illuminating Council properties and charity support should be made to Louise McLaughlin, Community Services, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council by telephoning 0300 303 1777 or emailing louise.mclaughlin@fermanaghomagh.com.
