Council buildings to be lit orange in support of suicide prevention awareness

Published: 9th September 2016

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is illuminating Enniskillen Castle and the Strule Arts Centre orange on Sunday 11 September 2016 to mark World Suicide Prevention Week.

The two buildings will be lit orange on Sunday night as part of the Cycle Against Suicide charity’s efforts to raise awareness of suicide prevention during the global awareness week which runs from 5 – 11 September.

Cycle Against Suicide aims to raise awareness of the help and supports that are available for anyone battling depression, self harm, at risk of suicide or bereaved by suicide. The charity is determined to let people in every corner of the island of Ireland know that ‘it’s OK not to feel OK and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help’.

The lighting up of Council buildings to mark specific days of significance is one way in which the Council may provide support to a particular charity. Enquiries regarding illuminating Council properties and charity support should be made to Louise McLaughlin, Community Services, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council by telephoning 0300 303 1777 or emailing louise.mclaughlin@fermanaghomagh.com.
