Community and Voluntary Sector Organisations – Have you registered yet?

Published: 28th July 2016

Two local community groups were at the front of the queue this week to register with Fermanagh and Omagh District Council as the Council embarks on a major process to update its register of the community and voluntary sector organisations which operate in the district.

Commenting on the process the Council Chairman, Councillor Mary Garrity, took the opportunity to encourage all groups to register with the Council so that they can continue to receive information updates and details of how the Council can help and support them to carry out their valuable work.

“The existing register which is held by the Council has been inherited from the two legacy Councils and there is an urgent need to update this to get a clear and consistent picture of the community and voluntary sector operating across the district”, Councillor Garrity added.

In addition, the register will be used to support a nomination process to a Fermanagh and Omagh Community and Voluntary Sector Forum which will be established in early 2017 and as a basis for invitations to attend a Fermanagh and Omagh Community and Voluntary Sector Convention in October 2016.

To qualify to attend the Convention and be part of the nomination process, groups are asked to register by 14 September 2016.

This process applies to all community and voluntary sector groups based in, or working in, the Fermanagh and Omagh district, across all communities of interest, eg, community support, arts and culture, heritage, sports, youth, section 75 groups, environmental groups etc.

Queries relating to the process should be directed to the Council’s Community Development section, tel: 0300 303 1777 or email: alison.gilmore@fermanaghomagh.com
