Christmas Lights Switched on in Enniskillen

Published: 23rd November 2015

The Christmas Season was officially launched in Enniskillen on Saturday afternoon, with the Switching On of the Christmas Lights. The town centre was illuminated with festive sparkle and colour, as Santa helped the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O’Reilly to flip the switch and light up Enniskillen for Christmas 2015.
A large crowd filled the town centre and was entertained throughout the afternoon by cartoon characters, face painters and street entertainers, while music from the Marty Fay Band created a festive atmosphere and members of the Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre gave the town centre a party feel with the ‘surprise’ Christmas Flash Dance.
The highlight of the afternoon for everyone was, of course, the arrival of Santa himself, accompanied by his cartoon character friends, who paraded from Quay Lane car park to the waves and cheers of the children.
The next important event in the pre-Christmas season is the annual Christmas Craft and Food Fair which will be held on Saturday 5 December, 10:00 am – 5:00pm. Local food producers and craftspeople will have a range of festive foods and Christmas hampers, as well as handcrafted ceramics, knitwear, slate craft and natural beauty products. With stalls located both in the Townhall and in the Diamond, the craft and food fair will be an ideal opportunity to pick up a unique gift for someone special, while street entertainment will keep the whole family happy during a traditional Christmas shopping day out in Enniskillen.
