A Big Bug Hunt event will take place at Mullaghmore House, Omagh, this Saturday, 12 September 2015, as part of Moth Night.

Moth Night is a UK-wide event which celebrates moths and moth-recording. As part of the celebrations, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, in partnership with Mullaghmore House, has organised a free morning of fun and educational mini-beast activities on September 12.

From 10 am to 11 am event participants will have the opportunity to learn about the moth world and have a closer look at moths that have been collected from the previous night.

A Big Bug Hunt will then start at 11 am, bringing event participants on a mini-beast adventure around the impressive gardens of Mullaghmore House. Participants will have the opportunity to turn the garden into a ‘bug hostel’ by building cosy beds for the thousands of mini-beasts that live in the garden. The Big Bug Hunt will last for approximately one hour.

The Big Bug Hunt is a free event and booking is not required. Participants are reminded to wear warm, waterproof clothing as all activities will take place outdoors. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

For further information about the event please contact Julie Corry, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Biodiversity Officer, by telephoning 0300 303 177 or emailing julie.corry@fermanaghomagh.com.
