Weirs Bridge Exhibition

Ardhowen Theatre, Enniskillen

A photographic exhibition by Headhunters Railway Museum capturing the iconic Weirs Bridge which carried the Sligo, Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway across the River Erne from the Great Northern Railway Station at Enniskillen to the junction of the Midland Great Western Railway at Collooney and onwards to Sligo. The bridge was built by Courtney, Stephens and Bailey from Dublin and in its 467 feet length was mixture of masonary abutments and cast iron pillars with lattice girder spans between.  The bridge was removed in the 1960s after the closure of the railway in 1957 with only the stone piers remaining.
