About the Event
Steam Around Fermanagh!
The Ardhowen, Enniskillen 8pm £10.00
It’s sixty years since, on Monday 30 September 1957, the very last train pulled out of Enniskillen station.
Charles Friel, Enniskillen-born railway author, photographer and founder member of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, returns to The Ardhowen with an illustrated talk which recreates the railways which disappeared 60 years ago. Or, in the case of the Clogher Valley Railway, a mere 75 years ago!
Charles’ first talk at the theatre was in 1987 and he has been back several times but, thanks to the work of Headhunters Railway Museum, this evening’s talk will include many pictures which have not been seen before.
An evening of nostalgia which is sure to bring back fond memories for all the family – even if you weren’t there!
Please note: A photographic exhibition by Headhunters Railway Museum capturing the iconic Weirs Bridge will be available for viewing at the theatre from Wednesday 13 September – Saturday 21 October.
