The Ardhowen welcomes this talented trio on their first visit to the Gallery Bar.

Noreen O’Sullivan is a highly accomplished traditional musician from Carna in County

Galway and is the sister of De Danaan fiddle legend Frankie Gavin. She plays the tin

whistle, flute and concertina, and released her first CD, ‘The Quiet House’, to widespread

acclaim in 2011. She comes from the famous east Galway tradition which has produced

musicians of the stature of Joe Cooley, Dolores Keane, and Martin O’Connor.

Danny Diamond is one the most talented young musicians to have emerged

in Ireland in recent years. He is the son of Dermy Diamond and Tara Bingham,

two very highly respected traditional musicians in their own right.

He is currently working in the National Traditional Music Archive in Dublin and has

had a number of album releases, among them several collaborations with a Finnish

musician, Aki, which included tunes from the northern European tradition in addition

to that of Ireland. His most recent release, ‘Fiddle Music’, sees him return to the Irish

fiddle tradition and is regarded as one of the finest traditional CD releases this year.

Hazlett Keers is a native of Enniskillen and although based in Belfast, has played for many

years with local County Fermanagh musicians including Gabriel McArdle, Jim McGrath,

and Charlie Woods. He plays mandola and bouzouki and is a regular attender at sessions

in Belfast and north Down with local musicians such as Nigel and Diana Boullier, and he

played on Noreen O’Sullivan’s ‘Quiet House’ CD. He has also performed at festivals in

Europe, and is looking forward to what will be a homecoming performance for him.
