About the Event
European Heritage Open Days is a Europe wide event, held annually to promote interest in historic and modern buildings by the public. This year the theme for EHOD is “Heritage and Nature: A Landscape of Possibilities” This is the perfect opportunity to explore not only built heritage but natural heritage and how the two complement each other.
Strule Arts Centre is a flagship venue for Fermanagh & Omagh District Council and is an excellent example of modern architecture, so why not join us in this award winning venue for and experience EHOD.
On Saturday 09 September you can enjoy a dander down the streets of Omagh with a walking tour of the local churches with tour guide Vincent Brogan. Listen to an interesting Museum talk on the archaeological artefacts and old photography exhibitions on display in the Roof Top Museum. You can also enjoy a visual presentation and talk on the built heritage and history of the Omagh area through the years later that afternoon. On Sunday 10 September get on board the EHOD bus tour and experience the natural heritage and landscape as we get out and about and visit some interesting heritage sites in Omagh, Gortin, Greencastle, Creggan, Carrickmore and Sixmilecross.
