About the Event


The Alzheimer’s Society plan to launch the first year of their 20:20 cycle in Northern Ireland, the concept of which is based on; 20,000 miles for 20,000 people with dementia in Northern Ireland’.

The event takes place on Sunday 15th May 2015 which marks the first day of Dementia Awareness Week 2016. The key message is of Dementia Awareness week is ‘Confronting Dementia’.  We want people to confront their worries by addressing dementia directly, by feeling more empowered to express their fears and do something about it.

There are 5 options on the day offering the opportunity for all cycling abilities to take part in the event in the accumulation of the 20,000 miles.

  1. 30 miles route
  2. 50 miles route
  3. 70 miles route
  4. Static Bikes
  5. Track with bikes supplied

The 30, 50 & 70 mile routes will be marshalled with backup support and refreshment stops provided.  There will also be a barbeque available to cyclists at the end of the event.

All participants are asked to register for the 30, 50 or 70 mile events. A minimum registration fee of £25 is applicable which includes the 20:20 Cycle Jersey.

Registration is available on the day between 8am-9am. however it is recommended that registration is completed prior to the event to ensure appropriate sizing and supply of the 20:20 cycle jersey.
