About the Event
Sat 4 Music in Fermanagh presents
The Vanbrugh String Quartet,
The Ardhowen, Enniskillen 8 pm All seats £15
On their return visit to The Ardhowen, this
much-loved ensemble, the longest established
string quartet in Ireland, will play three of
Beethoven’s string quartets; one from the
early years, showing his debt to Haydn and
Mozart, one from the middle years, full of heroic
enthusiasm for the ideas of liberty, equality and
brotherhood which were replacing the old order
in Europe at the time, and one from the end of
his life when he anticipates Beckett and Sartre
in his inward search for the meaning of life.
Members of the Vanbrugh Quartet will give
a short introductory talk to each quartet,
showing how it relates to Beethoven’s personal
and musical development. It promises to be
an enlightening and enjoyable evening.
Please note: There is a limited number of £8 tickets
for students on a first-come first-served basis.
With the generous support of The Arts
Council of Northern Ireland and Fermanagh
and Omagh District Council.
